welcome to reid cares where you "can" make a difference

Founded in 2018, Reid Cares is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity driven by a single goal; to shine a light on food insecure college students so that we can eradicate hunger together, one student at a time.

Founder Danette Reid's compassion for others is what led to the formation of Reid Cares Foundation (RCF). At the time of RCF's founding, her daughter, Danae', was a student at West Chester University and her son, George, was enrolled at Temple University. Both universities had recently launched food pantries to support students who were facing food insecurity and were in need of donations. Upon learning that some of her children's classmates may have been suffering in silence, Danette connected with her networks and asked for food donations to distribute to the two universities. And as they say, the rest is herstory.

Our decision making process is informed by exhaustive data collection and partnerships with college and university food pantries in Philadelphia, PA and the surrounding areas. Our success is directly connected to the support of individuals and community organizations who have partnered with us to provide non perishable items, school supplies, personal care items, and grocery store gift cards for the schools that we serve. At the present time, Reid Care provides assistance to the food pantries located on the campuses of Arcadia University, Cheyney University, Manor College, Penn State Abington, Temple University and West Chester University.
